Eight and half years ago, we launched something that we thought would last 6 months, 8 + years later here we are. So, as we close out the final hours of 2024, it is always a great time to review the past 12 months.

2024 was a great year for our show and even greater for our people, where we will start our written celebrations. 2024 was a year of new jobs/new beginnings, Molly Estes, one of the brilliant minds behind Med Student Over Easy, moved from the West Coast (where she had spent the vast majority of her entire life) to take a new job in the Windy City (Chicago), at the Northwestern EM Residency. Our blog writer Jordan matched into EM residency at  UCF/Osceola Regional in Orlando, FL. One of our hosts Andy, was promoted to be the Program Director at the AdventHealth EM Residency in Orlando, FL, and Mikaela Brown, our newest member of the Med Student Over Easy team was accepted to numerous medical schools and was pumped to be accepted to her #1 school the Medical University of South Carolina! To Molly, Andy, and Mikaela, congratulations. All, while our other members continue to grind out, doing their part to make the world on EM, and the worlds around them a better place!

Our show continued to prove itself as we had engagement with our listeners at an all-time high, and as we moved into leveraging our social media presence and the various technologies there. The top 3 episodes of the year for EM Over Easy were, “People Over Protocols”, “Clinical Grind; Pediatric Seizures” and “Being Heard and Hearing”. While the top 3 episodes for Med Student Over Easy were, “Alphabet Soup”, “Red Flags”, and “Women in EM”. This was another year of LIVE events with our show participating in both of the ACOEP’s CME events and multiple Virtual Grand Rounds. Our hosts were also invited speakers at numerous other conferences across the U.S.A. and we cannot wait to see where they’ll be speaking in 2025.

And finally, in review on a personal level, our show has returned to some of our roots. With the help of some amazing new, and recurrent guests we’ve returned to taking on challenging conversations to normalize the “more than medicine” sides of being physicians, medical students, and others who work in and around the emergency department. So as we look to 2025 with feelings we acknowledge our listeners, we again say Thank You, for your continued support of our show, for the feedback (online and in person) and your willingness to continue this journey with us. To our team (Drew, Tanner, John, Patricia, Molly, Kaitlin, Mikaela, Jordan and Andy) we say thank you for continuing to do the work, and a big thank you to the support systems (Husbands, wives, significant others, etc.) who allow us to continue.

Happy New Year,
